Cigarette Break

They'd seen each other before
A couple of times, maybe more
Exchanging shy glances and smiles
Walking around was worthwhile

She used to work in the storeroom
He learned that tripping on a broom
He used to be a simple errand boy
Doing things which most people annoy

There was this one plain particular day
In windy September, perhaps in May
Taking the lift for a cigarette break
When the doors were open, he was awake

She was there then just staring at him
None of them knew what was to begin
They said hello and together rode down
A lift ride like a nice trip out of town

Her hair so scented, her skin so white
Her eyes sparkled, a star isn't that bright
They talked about nothing, sharing everything
Never done that before, yet one could so think

Outside the building, the sky was blue
A stroll around was certainly due
He then realized he'd left his pack
Up in the office, in his backpack

Her own was enough
She was glad to share
Love was given birth
Just out of thin air
